    Motorised Dish Help

I had a motorised dish installed a few years ago by purplesat and its been fine. I haven't used it for a few weeks and went to scan in a feed last night and was getting no signal which was odd. After trying a few other sats and going out to have a look at the dish it wasn't moving. I tried reseating the cable into the back of the receiver and powering it off to no avail, I could see a green light on the motor when looking up at the dish last night.

Any idea how I can kick it back into life, preferably without going up a ladder that i don't have.

I have no idea what brand the motor is.

Receiver is a VU+ solo 4k running latest vix version.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

Possible that some water had got in at the cable connection at the dish end causing a short, then dried out enough for it to start working again. Worth getting it checked before winter sets in.

Spoke too soon hasn't worked since last week :-(

If I manage to borrow a ladder what am I looking for on the dish?

First thing I would do is to check f plug connectors have not become loose.

Just tried again and the dish to moved to 42E and now won't move again.

I have the window cleaner coming round in a bit, I'll try and borrow his ladders and reseat connections.

If issue is intermittent and usually worse after rain, you have some cable damage and water is getting into the cable.

The ladder didn't reach so was unable to reseat cabling :-(

Will see if i can source a ladder from elsewhere and in the meantime check the cabling i can get to for damage.

    Don't think so.

Someone posted that the old technomates can do it. Best wait for confirmation.

    Hi

do you have a remote control for the motor that you can manually move the dish east/ west and can you hear anything when trying to move the dish
if you hear no motor it could be the reed switch in the actuator arm that's gone these can be replaced but would need to take the dish down or remove
    the actuator to fix it

Just an idea. Try Menu>Setup>Tuners & scanning>Positioner setup>movement. Here you can move the motor to wherever you want.
Hope this helps so you don't have to go up that ladder.

I haven’t managed to identify any faults as yet but have just experienced something strange.

as mentioned before my dish was stuck on 42e and not moving. I found tonight if I kept going east it would move 46e,52e all the way upto 62e but if I tried to go back west say to 19.2e nothing happened. Now that I’m at 62e it won’t move again in either direction.

does the above behaviour give you any further ideas?

I tried the positioner setup but no movement.

That looks like the motor failing.
