Openvix Image 5.3 freezes on boot up

My Technomate Nano SE refuses to run the latest Openvix 5.3 images. I have tried both 5.3 001(August 2019) and 5.3 002 (September 2019). The box appears to accept the flashed image, but freezes with the opening screen on boot up. The most recent image that runs OK is 5.2 045 (July 2019).

I appreciate that a number of older boxes are unable to run the most recent 5.3 image, but the Technomate Nano SE is not listed among these and the most recent 5.3 images are listed for download for this model.

In both cases I flashed the images using a 4gb Kingston USB stick formatted FAT32. This method worked fine for v 5.2 045. I am aware that the latest 5.3 version is 14mb larger than the final 5.2 version. Is this a problem for this 4 year old receiver?

Any advice would be welcome. I am running a single LNB with a 1m dish on a Technomate TM2600 positioner motor.

I have a nano se also not tried the latest but would ask when box is flashed and rebooted do you get a spinning symbol or 2 booting up % screens and how long did you leave it to see if it launches the wizard.

Thanks for your reply. I did wait about 10 minutes. There was no spinning VIX symbol or progress monitor showing % etc. Just a static openvix screen which was frozen, and none of the controls on the remote or box working, forcing to remove the power cord. I was able to go back and re-flash to v 5.2.045 using usb stick. I also tried the latest Open ATV, and had the same problem.

Do you get the same problem if you flash using Image Manager?

I have not tried using Image Manager. I am new to Openvix so am still learning. I was under the impression that Image manager cannot be used when upgrading from 5.2 to 5.3. Is this correct?

That's not corrrect - ImageManager performs an online flash - replacing the installed image - and the result is the same as a usb flash but without all the issues with the usb stick.
Software update, updates the currently installed image - only replacing changed components. You should perform a USB or ImageManager flash to install 5.3 from 5.2

Thanks to everyone for their comments. I have managed to resolve the problem by using the downloads option in Image manager and selecting the OpenVix 5.3 download. Initially this failed and only downloaded 93% of the image. But I then made a factory reset and repeated the procedure. Now I managed to download 100% of the image and after flashing, the latest 5.3.002 is running 100%. Its a mystery why this option does not work when flashing directly from the USB, but the issue is now resolved.

I dont think the issue is necessarily resolved. Flashing by USB has the maximum flashable filesize limitation whereas flashing using ofgwrite does not have this. Flashing by USB affects the sections of the flash memory that hold the splash.bmp as well as bootloader, doing so by ofgwrite does not.

The box may need to be added to the receivers with small flashable size even though it has enough memory.
