    Secondary Set top box recommendation

    Hi folks

So I am looking to add client box to the main bedroom via ethernet connection, will not be able utilise any physical tuners.

The primary set top box currently is a Vu+ Duo 4k in the sitting room, has

    • Freesat tuner A c,d,e,f,g

    • Hotbird tuner B, h

    • Saorview (Ireland terrestrial) tuner I & J

    Running the latest OpenVix image

I was thinking the Vu+ Zero might be a tidy solution, but the hardware is getting a little old in the tooth at this stage ?. I am still open to purchasing it (from here as usual )

But have the good folks here any newer alternative recommendations ? I am interested in small and compact, but enough horses for zero lag experience, no requirement for multiple tuners I'm not familiar with anything outside of the Vu range which I've used for years

I've never run the home server/client model before

Am I correct I will be just streaming from the Vu Duo box, and able to channel flick without interfering with channels on Duo if someone is using it...

Recording functionality not required for the secondary box

    TY

    Nope not required.

Just want to be able use the Saorview, Freesat and Hotbird channels that come into the Downstairs box via 2 sats and an aerial

    Thanks for the suggestions guys

@Twol the Zgemma has peaked my interest. I was looking at the Zero and Zero 4k, while the zero has a good price, the Zero 4k is a little more pricewise Im willing to pay for this particular use case of mine.

If I bang on the latest Openvix on the Zgemma, enable client mode

Will it just function as if it was the box downstairs, ie mirror the epg and all that jazz ?

I recently bought a zgemma h9 combo from the forum sponsor for the bedroom, utilising client mode and it works perfectly, I have my trusty vu duo 2 with cable and sat tuners downstairs as the main box and haven’t had any playback issues. Once you set to client mode it reboots and that’s pretty much it, bouquets and epg is downloaded onto the box.

As everybody has said, client mode (enable in tuner setup) is really that easy- you can set a time to do the Bouquet/Epg update if you want.
If my memory is correct, the i55 is the h9combo without the tuners.
