Openvix 5 0 32 on gigablue ultra ue

Hi, not used my receiver for a while (12 months ish) because of a motor and then lnb problem, but now it’s fixed.
I checked to see if my receiver was up to date via the “software updater” on my receiver and it said “there are no more updates for openvix 5.0 you will have to flash/install newer image”
So checking on here I see the latest image is 5.2.044
If I flash my receiver via usb with the latest image, will I lose my settings, stored satellites, channels, lines and plugins?
I did try searching but couldn’t see anything.
I’ve only flashed this receiver once via usb when it was new and have only ever updated it via the receiver updater, so don’t wanna risk losing everything.
I’m not the best at setting up these receivers and it’s been a while, so it’s almost like I’m starting from scratch.
Any help would be greatly appreciated .
    Thanks.

    Create a settings backup
    Flash new image
After it restarts, you will be prompted to restore settings and then about plugins , say yes to both.

You will be back to normal.

If worried, create an image backup first and save it to PC before attempting anything. See guide in my signature if you need it

Is the settings backup “backup manager”?
I’ve done a back up of “backup manager” and “image manager” (stored on internal hd)
So if I create a image backup and save it to a usb/pc that’ll have everything on?
Also do I need the “backup manager” stored on internal hd or usb?
    Thanks for the help.

Sorry, should have been clearer. Backup manager saves your config files and options you chose. You apply these to new image, after you flash image.
Default is mountpoint hdd. It should be present after new image has rebooted.

As name suggests, image is image. It is everything, so you can reflash it if things go pear shaped.

    Just a quick question..
I’ve updated to the latest image (5.2.044) and when I try to restore my backup settings it just keeps saying “sorry the feeds are down for maintenance”
After a quick google search some people have this problem.
So I’m not sure if it’s a problem or the feeds really are down for maintenance.
Don’t suppose you know if the feeds are down?
Thought I’d ask you being a mod.
    Thanks

Thanks, I did try searching for that.
I current have no video image, even on freeview on all channels.
I have sound and can see menus etc, but no picture.
Would that be because of the update?
    Ta.

Now the server is back up I’ve restored my backup settings.
But still have no picture on any channels.
    Any help please?
    Thanks

    Just to add.
If I go to user interface - front panel display - settings and turn on mini tv on the front display I get a picture on there?

Check your Tuner config setup and see if that is ok. Also are you using the correct resolution to suit box/tv etc?

I’ve checked all the settings and they all look ok.
It was working perfectly till I updated.
When I was going through all the different settings I noticed there was an update from the 17th even though I only downloaded the latest image from here earlier today, updated to 5.2.045 and still the same.
I’ve tried a different hdmi and even tried a different tv.
    Still the same.
    I’m stumped.

You’ve not pulled the HDMI from the box while box & tv still on have you?
Another option is to go back to your older working image and see if that works, if it does could be a driver issue maybe?

So I’ve reflashed to my old image (5.0.032) and have a picture.
There’s a thread on here I found and it seems other gigablue users with Samsung tv’s had the same problem.
It seems the problem started updating from 5.1.022, then the next few updates after that give people a black screen.
I have no idea if any others worked in between 5.1.024 to 5.2.044
Maybe I’m stuck with this image.
    Thanks for the help.

Right so I’ve got it working with the latest image.
I’ll explain, might be abit long but it may help someone else out.

So I read on here on a old thread that you need to turn on “HDMI UHD Color” (Samsung tv)
My problem is that it only works on my tv on hdmi 1 on my tv, hdmi 1 is my sly and hdmi 4 is my Gigablue.
So thought I’d swap them round and give it a go.
I updated from 5.0.032 to 5.2.044 via usb with my Gigablue connected to hdmi 1, I had a picture.
So I put my Gigablue in standby and changed it over to hdmi 4, I still had a picture.
Then I updated to the latest version 5.0.045 via the online update while still connected to hdmi 4, no picture.
Put the Gigablue in standby and connected to hdmi 1, still no picture.
Powered the Gigablue off at the back, I had picture.
Standby - hdmi 4 and I had picture.
I’m guessing if I power off the Gigablue at the back while connected to hdmi 4 it’ll go off again and i’ll Have to repeat the process.
    But it’s working!
I’m guessing there’s something in the updates that doesn’t like Samsung TVs, not just uhd TVs cos I tried the 720p Samsung TV out of the bedroom.
Obviously the easy option is to turn on ”HDMI UHD Color” and leave it connected to hdmi 1, but If like me you’ve got too many gadgets it’s a good work around.
    Thanks for the help everyone.

Leave your Giga in standby mode, best not to keep unplugging it, it’ll not do it any favours.
