Freesport HD FTA no picture live, OK recorded

I've noticed that Freesports HD is testing again on Astra 28e but there is just a Black screen live, if using timeshift or a recording, then it's OK. I've tried on a couple of 4K ARM boxes but nothing older,

Don't know if this is a bug in ViX or if they are using some non-standard codec whilst they are still officially testing. Is this the same for others?

    Tuning details - 11426 V SR 27500 FEC 5/6 DVB-S QPSK DVB Name = 52575, CHiD = 1150

Edit - Just dug out an older, unsupported, ZGemma with a patched older ViX image and it displays live pictures but no sound. All is good in timeshift and recording again.

I doubt its a bug in Vix. This was a troublesome channel when it was testing previously and other channels on the same TP were fine. I'm not near a receiver to check but the symptoms you describe are the same as before.

They had a test background last week. I can confirm it is a blank screen at the moment

Did you try recording or live pause M8, it's been active in programming all Day

I doubt it's a bug in the true sense of the word, more likely an unsupported/semi-supported format or codec. It's worth the experts investigating in case it becomes permanent. Also interesting that an older noon-4K box with an older ViX does display the live picture.

Record and playback seems to work. I suppose someone would need to inspect the stream and check codecs

I've just checked this - its working perfectly on my SF8008 but a stuttering picture with no sound on my Solo2. Both running build 043 of Openvix.

I have asked someone who is well versed in theses issues, he said:

Decoding is done 100% on hw, so boxes that cannot play that stream live need a fix on drivers.

There was this same problem during testing last time. It did get fixed before it was pulled so hopefully they are just replicating the same tests and it will be fine for the actual launch.

It is displaying OK today, so hopefully just something in the test that isn't going to be used when in full service.
