    So just a quick update.
I actually found an old 4.2 backup on my ultimo. Did an install from there and it went fine. Started a quick scan on Tuner D and it worked. So cancelled the scan did some other settings EPG path/screen position and stuff. Then downloaded HD Magic 720p skin.... I think. Restarted box..... Stuck in loop Tried to flash image from USB.... Nothing... Tried 3 more USB drives still nothing. Just stuck on please wait screen with spinning vix logo alternating with boot image on front panel. Probably should have left well enough alone.

So telnet into box.(e.g. via putty)
    then:
    init 4 (theres a space)
    enigma2
look at log and see whats breaking.
    probably the skin in usr/share/enigma2
if so use filezilla to access and delete skin folder
then in telnet init 6 to reboot.

    Hi
I did as twol suggested above with no joy. Still stuck on vix please wait screen. I tried installing a skin IPK file in the temp folder and with tel net ran the following.... (opkg update && opkg install -force-overwrite /tmp/*.ipk) Still no joy. All i can confirm is the tuner D did start to scan with the 4.2 image. As for what happened next I have no clue.
