Vu+ 4k box tuners

Hey Guys

I have two questions.

1) I am planning on getting an ultimo 4k for my room as i have satellite and cable feed. I am thinking about getting another VU 4k receiver for the extension. This will be primarily a slave receiver using remotechannel stream converter and being able to play my 4k content (esp HDR 10 bit files). This would not need any tuners because there is no feed in my extension. Would any vu 4k receiver be able to work without tuners, can it still function just on streaming. Would it boot up without tuners?

2) Does the FBC satellite tuners have to be used in FBC mode. Can i still use traditional satellite feed in a FBC tuner?

FBC tuners will always be FBC tuners. There isn't a non-FBC mode for FBC tuners.

If your question is: "Can I use a normal LNB with an FBC tuner?", the answer is yes.

A receiver will work without tuners.

So i can put 2 satellite feeds into the FBC satellite tuner so i can record two different channels at the same time. Eg( BBC 1 and channel 5). RIght?

Yes, that is correct. You will find that you can record more than a non-FBC tuner.

it is not completely right:-) FBC is special. With each tuner you can record up to 8 channel from the same band with a normal LNB. So if you have connect one normal feed to one input you can for instance record up to 8 different channels from horizontal high. FBC was the only real useful innovation in the last years.

1) Would i be able to just move my hardrive out from my ET10000 into the ultimo without losing my recordings?

2) Can i use my original solo 2 remote with the new ultimo or i have to use the new style remote?

Ultimo takes 2.5" sata drives, I'm guessing your et10k drive will be 3.5".

Yes my ET10000 IS 3.5inch but i could have sworn the ultimo 4k can house a 3.5inch hardirve. ???

1. Ultimo4K can use 2.5 or 3.5 so the chances are high that your HDD will work.

Sorry, you're right, I was going by the options when buying, which only gave the choice of 2.5" drives.

So yes, you can use your et10k drive (assuming the necessary cabling).

I think you can use either 2.5 or 3.5.
