Online update if you mean software update- then NO, this is not advisable. Due to kernel and drivers update you should perform a usb flash or flash online with ImageManager and restore your settings from a backup.
There is a change to the way the SF8008 recognises the kernel from previous versions.
If you run the SF8008 in multiboot mode, this should not be an issue, as you can flash a different slot with the new image, and retain the previous image until you are happy with the new image.
The next OpenViX version will contain the new kernel and drivers - but needs a flash as per above.
OpenATV usually has a daily build, so last nights build should contain everything, but again needs an image flash.
OpenPli depends on when Octagon update OpenPli‘s bsp and when they next build.... you would have to ask OpenPli.

Sorry should have mentioned in using openatv 6.2 so using flash online method
It downloads full image then flashes. Restores everything including plugins bouquets etc.
If you are using OpenATV then you need to reflash from tonights build as there are signiificant build „fixes“

That is still flashing, not updating. It is followed by restoring settings and re-installing plugins.
Anyway, provided that there are no partition changes, a flash (by USB or using Ofgwrite). Openvix uses image manager to invoke ofgwrite, OpenATV uses "Flash online" to invoke ofgwrite.
Do not perform an update.

Flashed 27/12/18 nightly OpenATV on both Duo4K and SF8008 both bootloop after restart. e2 crash .. had to reflash both boxes 26/12/18 build.
Tried flashing both boxes fresh USB also same e2 crash
Both boxes then it is an OpenATV bug, not the SF8008 (I have all those on a ViX build and they work fine)... they reverted a few of yesterdays OpenATV serviceinfo changes
.... thats why OpenViX build on a Dev branch 1st and not direct on a „live“ branch!!!!

My Opticombo DVB-C tuner doesn't work on the SF8008 or the Vu+ Uno 4K but works fine on my Mutant HD51, all on ViX 5.2.022.
The latest drivers install fine from plugins and the tuner appears in tuner setup and the led comes on but ABM scan fails. If I import a cable channel list, I still can't change to a cable channel so don't think it's an ABM problem.

did you tets with other Image too ? as i know from users opticombo usb tuner works well on sf8008. Pls test example atv image and report again. actually i am waiting usb tuenr delivery for test
