    Difference between images

What are the differences between images available when ordering new boxes? Using VIX but sometimes wonder what the others like OpenEight, PLI and Open ATV have to offer. Be interesting to have a comparison of them.

I tried OPen ATV and PLI a long while ago very briefly. I found OPENVIX the best.

I used openatv and it was pretty good, been thinking to try it again, openatv is a bit. openvix is very similar but much easier use and user friendly.

You can try them all - it doesn't matter which one the box comes with as its easy to flash whichever image you like with a usb stick. On this forum most of us prefer Openvix but there are a few weirdos out there that prefer something different.

Guess I just have to play around to discover them. Will have to set up an old receiver sometime and try some out. Didn't want to muck up the settings on my main boxes that I use on day to day basis. VIX works well but see lots you tube bits on OpenATV + see that that Octagon is pushing OpenEight .

OpenEight is a base OpenPli image with added feaures like the OpenATV Image flashing and backup
OpenATV support all the boxes as they arrive so the goto image for videos promoting the “new“ receiver.

Also you can use the openmultiboot plugin to run several images on the same receiver. Although its easy to make a full image backup so you wont lose anything.

    openmultiboot is the plugin.
The HD51 (supports 4 images), Giga4K's (supports 3 images) and the SF8008 (supports 3 images) have a built in multiboot function capability

OpenMultiBoot is a plugin that works on almost all receivers.

Some receivers have hardware multiboot. They do not use the OpenMultiBoot plugin for this functionality.
