    DVB T2/C tuner not finding any channels.

    Hi, I have had a search on the forum for assistance but can’t really find anything that helps (sorry if I have missed an existing Thread).

    This goes on a bit, but please stick with it.

    First a bit of a back story, I have purchased a couple of DVB -T2/C tuners for my GigaBlue HD quad. After I fitted the tuners and could not get them to detect any channels on either Arial or an old VM cbl. line I have. After a bit of backwards and forward with the supplier I sent them back for testing and they worked just fine, so I reinstalled them in my box but with no success. I then did a full factory reset on my box and installed the latest copy of the Vix Image that I downloaded and put on a pen drive. At this point I was happy to find that the cards worked and detected a full set of channels on both the TV areal and VM Cbl.

    Everything was well for a while then unfortunately yesterday I had to power off my Box and when switching it back I must have caught something as it decided to begin the flashing process from a really old image I had forgotten was installed on a memory card in the back of the box. I let it complete (don’t want to brick it) and then downloaded the latest image and again re-flashed the box to the latest image.

    I am now back to my original condition with my DVB T2/C tuners, they will not find any channels, I have tried both a Manual Scan and using AutoBouquets Maker Freeview (UK) (I get the message “X Cannot read data”). I obviously can’t use the original solution of factory reset and install the latest image as I am already there.

    Any suggestions??

    Possibly with usb tuners you might need to download drivers for plugins to box and reboot?

    …. no mention of them being usb tuners, only tuner cards.

    Flashing usually needs you to confirm that you want to proceed, otherwise the process is ignored.

    Hi Guys, Yes they are internal cards not USB so no additional drivers required (and they have both worked), and yes I know flashing normally needs to be confirmed but never the less for what ever reason the device re flashed it self to a really old version.

    .....The GB Quad 4K supports multiboot, if that's the box you've got, maybe that explains it.

    It's not that new, the box I have, it is a just 4 year old GigaBlue HD quad, it has served me faithfully for many years.

    Silly question - are the tuner cards enabled in the tuner config?

    Can you please adhere to these requirements? Its saves most of the messing around and gets to your solution so much quicker.

    Can you also run this command (paste it, don't type it). Guide in my signature if you need it.
    Code:
    cat /etc/enigma2/settings | grep config.Nims > /tmp/deggsy999tunerconfig.txt
    A file will be created in /var/volatile/tmp/ Attach it to the forum. Attach, not paste please.

    Hi Abu, I think I have done as you asked (Log attached) , but if you could assume from now on that I am not born with the genetic knowledge of a moderator and that I might need some guidance to comply it might make things easier. it is in my interest to give you what you need but I can only do that when I know what you need.

    Your tuners are set correctly

    Code:
    config.Nims.2.cable.scan_networkid=41018
    config.Nims.2.cable.scan_provider=Virgin Media UK (All systems)
    config.Nims.3.cable.scan_networkid=41018
    config.Nims.3.cable.scan_provider=Virgin Media UK (All systems)
    ABM is set for this
    Code:
    <  1960.795> [ABM-config] providers:  cable_uk_virgin:hd_41018_dvbc_uk:157:

    ABM fails with this, it is timing out.

    Sorry, just found these, it doesn't look like they contain any meaningful information, but maybe that in itself is meaningful.

    Hi, I am not one to sit on my hands so I have just tried something. I have a second Enigma 2 box (Tiviar) which also has a DVB T2/C tuner installed. I have just run a cable to it and with all the same settings as on my GiGa Blue run a scan on Virgin Media it picked up all the channels without any issues. not sure what that proves but at least it shows I have an active cable and is therefore a issue with my GiGa Blue. I don't think it is a tuner issue as it was working ok before I inadvertently flashed my box. so it looks like some sort of software issue. as previously stated I have done a factory reset, reformatted my hard drive and removed any flash drives and the finally re-flashed the device with the latest Vix Image 5.1.032 downloaded from the vix site.

    You have to be on a Cable channel to have useful output. So that is not possible at moment for you.

    Can you connect the Tiviar to the exact same cable that the last cable Tuner on the Gigablue is connected to and try again.
