xtrend et7100 set up on mac problems

Hello, tried setting up the xtrend 7100 V2 tonight using a mac to FTP, dowloaded soft cam 2.3 from the plug in section/ soft cams in menu, then ftp'd mipsel ipk to tmp folder but when i go in install it I get an error message saying opkg 'cannot install mipsel ipk as another file has been found, or something along those lines.
I have created a cfg file using text edit on the mac and renamed the extension as cfg and not rtr, do you guys think this is the problem, i'm out of ideas and patience!
    cheers

Why are you transferring ipk files? You can install the emulator (without configs) using your remote.

You are doing it all wrong. Installing from the plugins is all you needed to do, then you would transfer your config files via ftp to the “keys” folder.
You would only use the tmp folder for an ipk file that was for instance not in the plugin feeds!

Thanks, but so much for doing it ALL wrong, I created a new file on the PC not the MAC, if you read my earlier post I asked if creating on the mac text edit was the problem, turned out it was, created one on Notepad ++ and bingo, she's alive!
you might want to remove them old guides as they are obviously outdated, also Hazza the file goes in etc folder not, keys, tried it but it didn't work, popped it back in etc and it does?!

Can you post a link to the guides please? If they are not relevant any more, best we move them out of the way.

"If all goes successfully you should now be connected to your receiver. the boxes on the left of the program are your PC those on the right are the internal file structure of your Receiver. navigate to the TMP/ folder on your receiver and drag the softcam file ( must be in .ipk format ) to this location. once done you can exit from Filezilla. ( although you will need to use it once more before we are done ).

On your receiver navigate to the ipk installer. this can be found as so. Blue button> ViX> install local extension. If your file transfer via filezilla went correctly you will see the file listed here. Highlight this file and press the green button to install the file, you should see a conformation box just follow the directions selecting yet to reboot once complete.

When I was using Mgcamd many years ago, the files went in etc/keys
At least it’s working for you.
I am now using the far superior Oscam, but it’s not to everybody’s taste, another words, too hard for peeps, whereas I found it easy.

@untitled, reason you could not install (as per post 5) is you had done it already. Once a package is installed, it is removed from the list of available plugins. You can check by going into the plugins/remove section where installed items are listed.
