Password recovery software for Windows 10?

My kid locked my home PC with wrong password. What is the correct way to recover or remove the password? I can't do a clean install coz there are a few important files in C Drive.

There a few bits of software out there that will do it. Just google it. You may need another pc to burn a disc with the software on it.

Assuming you're not encrypted then you just write over the password file with an appropriate utility

Just use something like this bootdisk (assuming there's no Bitlocker enabled)

    https://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/

Either use the USB or ISO image and it will blank out the password to let you back in (at which point you should set another password).

    Password recovery

You can boot with Windows installation DVD, access the Command Prompt and replace sethc.exe with cmd.exe. Reboot to the login screen and press SHIFT key 5 times and the command prompt will launch. Run the "net user" command to reset your password or create a new admin user:

Or use the third party password cracking tools:

They are all good at reseting the login password for Windows 10.After you find or log into your computer, remember to write down your new password on a piece of paper.
