    Xtrend Remote

I have just received an Xtrend remote and it appears to be DOE. Are the keys backlit? I've tried several sets of batteries and nothing lights up.

I was hoping to replace my Mutant HD51 remote with it. Does it have to turned on or initiated some way?

Thanks, I've bit the bullet and ordered a Harmony Elite. I'll put the Xtrend down to experience.

Assuming a ET10K type remote, the keys are NOT backlit except the two white keys at the top of the remote.
To use the remote for a PVR first press the white PVR key which will momentarily light. The remote will stay in this mode until the white TV key is pressed and visa-versa. On preesing any other button one of the white buttons will light to show which mode its in.

You can usually test a remote by aiming it at a phone camera where you can see the Infra Red (IR) Light Emitting Diodes (LED) flashing when pressing the buttons. The camera is responsive to near IR but invisible to the naked eye. Sometimes a phone camera trick doesn’t work because the manufacturer has inserted a IR filter BUT in the case of some phones only in the rear facing camera and not the front facing cameras – try both cameras. I believe that iphones have filters.

The two top keys are, Mute and Power. Below them are TV, Radio, Portal, Function.

There is no model number on the remote.

The ET10000 remote top keys are STB, POWER, TV - the two outer buttons are white and light up when a key is pressed.

I don't think it's an ET10K remote, the WOS Xtrend remote currently for sale is very different.

I posted #2, but then deleted it - the thread is in the wrong section (I reckon).

Yes, I should have said it's not the same as the original ET10K remote.

We only have the basic model Xtrend remote in stock https://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk...remote-control

This does not have and backlit keys whatsoever. Its also not a universal remote, it controls Xtrend receivers only.

Thanks for the replies. I read in the Mutant forum that some members had replaced the awful Mutant remote with an Xtrend. I am waiting for Amazon to deliver a Harmony Elite remote today. I'll bin the Xtrend and put it down to experience.
