    HDMI passthrough issues

    Hi,

I recently upgraded our solo2 to a uno 4k se box. My setup is Uno -> Marantz 1606 -> Tv. After first day I noticed problems turning everything on the day after (Tv shows - No signal). Which has pushed me to find the bug by trial and error. Conclusions so far:

Once I shut everything down - normal standby mode - and try to turn things back on, no passthrough is sent to TV.
    - Reboot - makes it work
    - Deep standby - makes it work
    - Standby - no change
    - Restart web gui - no change

While everything is working and without turning off the Tv, I can set Uno on standby, and get it back without losing signal.

I can't explain the behaviour nor why it would differ from the Solo2, but it seems to be out of my reach of what I can do to fix it. So first step is to talk to this forum as it's the image I'm using (haven't tried other yet). And after that to start talking to Vu+ directly (after testing their base image).

IF anyone has any pointers I'm all ears.
Since this category doesn't have many followers yet, I might link it in the image talk category as purposed by an admin in this uno 4k se category. We'll see what happens during the next 24h Thanks for reading!

Starting this thread actually got me thinking of new scenarios, one which seems to have a big impact. If changing res to 1080p from 2160p the standby wake works every time.

Next up will be to find out if it's Uno/Openvix, HDMI cable or Marantz that is the culprit.

    Different cable tested. Same effect.

Uno -> Tv works fine with 4k res in standby

Tried to allocate a different passthrough port on amp. with different cable - same effect.

Next up will be to test a new image to exclude software before contacting Marantz and Vuplus.

Could be the Marantz. My Onkyo amps have always worked well (apart from components failing like display etc after a few years), but having moved things around, I am using a Denon 4K amp to the 4K monitor and the Denon has some issues, where the solution is to switch the amp between standby and back.

yeah that would be worst case, as mentioned in the other thread, I got it working on @30Hz which is good, but not fully acceptable by me quite yet this early I've contacted Marantz to see if they are able to provide any feedback as I have a feeling it's something in their firmware that doesn't recognize the 60Hz stream as 'passable'.

Like TV should be 60Hz, early generation 4k products where 2160p 30hz. Your amp does not support 60HZ.

Hey, thanks for taking the time to check. But that's only true if I upscale, according to link you sent "Prepared for the future, the NR1606 is equipped to handle 4K Ultra HD full rate 60 Hz content, 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling and 21:9 aspect ratio pass-through. It's also HDCP 2.2 compliant, which is a requirement for 4K Ultra HD copy-protected content."

Also if the 60Hz mode didn't work, then a reboot of the Uno shouldn't 'solve' the passthrough problem. So I still believe the mode is supported, maybe just not recognized fully during standby wakeup.
