box wont boot help if poss

i was trying to load / set up a apk , it went in ok and i installed it ok. but then crashed . so i removed it by ftpi and my box wont boot up.
i tried to re-flash , but it wont flash ( fat 32 format and new image from the vix page )

it may be the usb isnt the correct one to use so i may have to buy another to use....

screen just has open vix and WOS i top left corner ( no spinning circle )

i can get into box with filezilla and looks like a few things missing from the "tmp" folder. i only notice this folder as it was the one i was ftp'ing to.

can i flash image via ftp? or re-set by ftp ?

i do have my old back up i ca try to flash .. but hought it would be bettter to go with the newer one , as it has been ages since i updated the image.

    thanks i advance.

you can also couch flash as no usb is needed

Filezilla works ok, couch flash is a non starter as the box won't boot.

OP: /tmp doesn't usually have anything in there of any importance.

What were you trying to install??

Reflashing is you best bet, it's just a matter of finding a stick which works, and following the exact instructions in the flashing guide for your box.

The actual image you use isn't that important at this stage.

You will need to fresh install ViX image with a usb flash drive.

If you've got an image backup, you can simply reflash it (even using couch flash), and you'll not need to setup anything.

(Apart, obviously, from anything you may have changed since taking the image backup.)

If you've only got a settings backup, what ViX release was it taken on?
