    Do you use the usb flash drive for recording? Can I use a usb HDD?
    Do you use vix image?

    Yeah you can use an external HDD, just my preference for using a USB Flash Drive. And yes I only use ViX, after trying many images over the years, ViX is by far the superior image.

    Can a vu receiver be booted from a usb if the flash fails?

    If fails to boot just reflash it with usb stick.

    I mean does the flash chips go faulty very often?
    Just wondered if it can be booted directly off a usb unused to do this on my dm800se?
