    OpenPLi support

Hey guys, I understand that on the Technomate Software Blog there is an OpenPLi update for the TM Nano SE-M2 receiver, however when I visit the OpenPLI website they show no support for any Technomate receivers, could someone please explain what is going on, and is this update the latest genuine update, how do you install it. Also how do I check what is the lattest version on my receiver.?

OpenPLi do not make images for the TM receivers. They are homemade ones by the 4D team.

Thank you, that is very useful, I just a learner so I am making my way by trying to read as much as possible and ask questions, this field is incredibly complex. If I could ask another question is there any point in changing to a different image e.g. OpenVix

Which image you use depends on your receiver and personal likes/dislikes ... try the different images and you will quickly learn more - they are not all the same although the base is similar

    OpenPLi support

Image preference is an individual choice. Try them and use one you like best.

Most people on this forum use openvix.

Thank you for the reply, I was wondering, as I am using OpenPli, what happens to this image if I flash the receiver with a different image say OpenVix, is it deleted or is kept as such until the new image is 'activate' so you can switch between the as you like. Or do you have to do a backup of the existing image, just in case things go pear shaped.

Could I please ask you about Openwebif it is an interface for my receiver as I understand, there apparently been vulnerability concern about it, having read this on the OpenPLi site I don't really understand what they suggest we do to reduce risk of hacking?, have you any suggestions or guidance I will be pleased to hear, thank you.

You would do a backup of your existing image (for safe keep, if you wanted to go back to that one). If you were to try ViX, you would flash the image via USB flash drive and setup from scratch as you don’t have a ViX backup to restore.

Some of the (better ) receivers have multiboot built-in, others can use the multiboot plugin so that you can flip between images
