    hi
update to my past post on openvpn
after reading page after page on topic I came across a post regarding openvpn in the blackhole image so decided to install it in my receiver, after an hour of finding my way around the image much more different from vix I managed to navigate my way to the openvpn program, adding the files I already made I set about running openvpn and bingo started running which wasn't happening on vix image. now I'm not so happy with blackhole image so decided to revert back to vix but decided not to recover from stored backup instead loading any files like cccam - settings as I went along.
after setting the basic stuff back in the receiver I ran the openvpn for the first time which asked if I wanted to install to which I said yes, after making a openvpn file in etc folder (etc/openvpn) I put the same config files I put in the blackhole image, started openvpn and hey what ...it started running.
So those of you trying openvpn and seeing no response it could be worth saving files like settings ccam etc and reinstall the latest image without using backups then navigate your way to the openvpn file and allow it to install and open then set about adding your files making sure you make a openvpn in etc folder, it just may help some

Not sure if this helps u mate. Have a look at my thread below. I use vpn manager with nord. Only downside is that it is very bandwidth hungry. I’m on 65 to 70 mb down and 18 mb up when the vpn is off. Turn it on and it drops to 12 mb down and 6 mb up. But have a look anyway matey.

    Hello.
I tried the above with IpVanish & VIX 5.4.001 on my Octagon SF8008 but couldn't get it to work.
When I press Green in OpenVpn I get a vix logo turns once or twice in top left of screen but current status is still stopped.
RED (Remove service, Yellow (Autostart) & Blue (Show log) buttons all work ?
Also what is the reason for No10 above ?
    Thanks.

No. 10 is just a test to show your external ip. If the vpn service is working then it will be different to that assigned by your isp

I ran Ipchecker on my receiver & it gave me the same Ip address as when I ran no10 above using Putty.

With ipvanish you need to add the security certificate file as this is referenced in the server file rather than being included. It’s called something like ca.ipvanish.crt
