NEW Client mode introduced in OpenViX build 5.0.013

Introduced in OpenViX build 5.0.013, new Client Mode.

Client mode allows you run a client Enigma 2 receiver over an existing network without the need for any signal feeds. All channels and EPG data will be imported from main Server receiver.

    1) Only certain skins currently show Client mode setup button. Switch to default ViX Night HD skin to setup. Once setup you can switch back to your preferred skin. To re-access Client Mode setup switch back to ViX Night HD skin.

    2) Menu > Setup > Service Searching > Tuner Configuration > See 'Client Mode' yellow setup button. Press 'Yellow' button to switch to Client Mode setup screen.

    3) Select Enable client mode field, using left/right keys set this to 'yes'. Sample settings in screenshot below.

    4) Press Green button to save and your client receiver GUI will reboot. Once Rebooted your client receiver will have imported all channels and EPG data from server receiver. Note reboot process will take slightly longer due to Channels and EPG data being imported.

Please note that is a new feature therefore a bug could be found that we've not found during testing.

Big thanks you to Huevos all who tested in the Dev team for bringing this great new feature.

    Nice!

Can the client receiver be able to add timer locally using a remote tuner?

Does this supercede and replace the channel importer plugin? What is the difference between the two?

    By Huevos:
Client Mode turns any receiver into a streaming client, i.e. no local tuners are used. Client Mode is embedded in E2, and replaces Channels Importer plugin.

    Features:
All local tuners are disabled and E2 doesn't know they exist.
All screens that use local tuners disappear.
Channel lists, epg.dat, and lamedb are retrieved from the host receiver on boot.
It is also possible to set a schedule to resync with the host receiver.
All file retrieves are done via URL/TCP.

dont use tuners on client box so this new client mode works for me, ive been using channel importer and found it good and automates the import of epg and channels as i want. Will give this a go instead of channel importer.

I would think that if you run as a permanent client then client mode is the way to go, if you flip between active mode (using tuners) and client then probably the plugin ...... but not both.

    hello friends

I tried it very well, I have 2 devices, mutanthd51 and uno4K work very well
    1-satellite list at uno4K
    Hispasat, hotbird, astra23.5, astra19, eutelsat7, eutelsat4.8, hellasat and Türksat
2-mutanthd51 is only Turksat but when I do this application, mutanthd51 is active in my un4k, but when i follow mutanth51 i need to take uno4k to stanby
3-When I run oscam on the main device, my client device, mutanthd51, also opens encrypted channels

What are capabilities of the Server/Client how many clients can connect simultaneously. If server had 2 twin DVB S2 could server have 1 channel and 3 clients have 1 different channel each.

Is there any way to immediately load the the epg/bouquets when you boot up the client? It doesn't seem to save the epg.dat at shutdown and it seems you have to wait for the next hourly update before you can watch again.
