Technomate Twin OE Front Panel Display

Ok my box has symptoms which def point to part or all of the front panel display. The box has not been abused and hasn't been knocked over so I can rule out anything like that.

There is nothing on the front panel display, the buttons on the front panel don't work and even though remote is clearly ok as red lights showing when pressing top buttons, the remote fails to work.

The box runs fine and I can ftp to control it...

I haven't opened box up as hoping i can get a few tips off some of the experts here before i do....i can't see it being a loose wire but is there fuses or anything or could it even be an IC on the mainboard...

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I read somewhere changing a capacitor on the psu would sort it but I've opened box and removed psu and viper chip is burnt. So i presume its not the 400v 100uf capacitor, its the viper chip..??
