Box not supported for updates now I see

Have one of these from new working a treat cable/sat. Great little box, I know always updates but only use for TV viewing don't even pause or use other plugins so never important the updates. I'm just wondering if the ABM will always continue to work in the future? Rather buy a new box than hassle of messing about, but the box working perfect all I need to know if ABM will continue to work without firmware updates. Currently use that to update channels, the only feature important to me along with crossepg downloader.

Unless ABM changes to use newer features in Enigma2, it will continue to work.

The reader files are cpu specific, so you cant use an ARM one on a mipsel one. You would need from same CPU type.

Only if ABM isn't using new Enigma2 features, and I'm not sure how you would know if it was.

You would get a crash or failure.

Each file that has been updated on abm github has an history of changes so you could easily find out what has been referenced to enigma2 or as abu said you'll get a crash and the log will give you an idea of the error

As openatv is maintained for my xp1000 would I be able to copy ABM from that and replace the one in vix 4.2.

This all of course thinking ahead as currently it works fine.

I can't see the point of updating and debugging a crash if there is one - It's telling you it won't work because it is out of step with enigma2.
As long as it continues to read transmitter details, say, then there is no need to update.

    mmmmmm....

I'm on 4.2.026 with no feeds available. ABM/Update Providers no longer works - "Incompatible versions 2.4>2.5"

Im not exactly sure what mean but there was an update to the provider files that has reference to updated abm py fies http://www.world-of-satellite.com/sh..._ALLOWED_TYPES

This means that members like garryboy will no longer be able to use any further updated provider files as it will result in a crash if he was to copy abm like he suggested in post 11 that may work. So in his case its not that ABM has changed to use newer features in Enigma2 abm has updated and he needs a newer version of abm.

I naively assumed that the provider files would be backwards compatible.
