any advice on os mega set up including catch up tv

    Hi all.
Will be purchasing an edison os mega next week so any advice on initial set up please.
Is it an easy wizard type of set up ?
I will be running 2 sat cables into box at first but may add ariel later.
When set up is there a catch up tv section ??
I will be adding internal hard drive also.will 320 gb be enough or should it be 500 gb ??
Any advice is greatfully received as this all new to me
    Thx
    Ian l

I use OS mega, it's very easy to setup so long as you follow the guides on this forum and VIX website.
As this is a vix forum, you might want to choose VIX latest image on purchase from WOS.
This will guarantee you get every help you need here.
Catch-up TV is something specific to sky, virgin and Freesat receivers.

No, but the box can run kodi, so you can get kodi addons for those.

OpenVix is a nice image to get up and running fast.....the wizard will have your tuners setup in a blink and the included Buquet/epg addons in settings will have your Sat needs sorted pretty well too.

After that, everything else is down to personal preference. The plugins section of OpenVix will give you a feed of popular plugins where a full Kodi can be installed from. If you are not familiar with Kodi then definitely read some guides on it, it is a very powerful bit of software that can do all sorts of things, but needs a little work setting up to what you want it to do. (Browse different Kodi plugins for an idea)

There is no onesizefitsall when it comes to STB's...... It's just down to you googling what you want from your box and finding the right plugins to do it.

Edit: And again with HDD size...personal preference, nobody can know how much you will want to store.

Not got this stb but on my Vu+ I've seen iplayer and itv hub on a couple of plugins. One I think is catch-up plugin and the other iptv player if I remember correctly. The other option but I haven't tried it could be to use a browser plugin and call up the catch-up web sites. All the plugins come from the ones in the openvix plugin section

Hi, does this still work for you? I'm using the iPlayer through IPTV player and keep getting an error like 'no streams found' for all shows. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

If you are in uk it should work, it is currently working on my Osmega. I just tried 3 or 4 streams from different categories and all played ok

Just checked mine (haven't used it for months) and it works ok (just watching a episode of Top Gear now.) Just picked a few random programmes and it is showing about 4 or 5 streams for each.

I have an osmega and have both the IPTV player and Kodi plugins installed.
I can confirm the Iplayer is working from the IPTV player plugin (menu/plugins/install new plugin)
I cant comment much on Kodi cos haven't installed any repos for Kodi yet as I haven't found a enigma2 "how to" guide for Kodi,
    Technomate-TM-Nano-3T - Vu+Solo - Dm800HD - DM518

Inverto MultiConnect LNB system - 1m Orbital dish - zone 2 28e dish

You install repos as you would normally in Kodi.
