    Please update guide

Hi - any chance the CrossEPG sticky could be updated?

    This one http://www.world-of-satellite.com/sh...all-ViX-Images

It's a mile out of date and thus doesn't "work".

    Thanks

Only points 9 & 10 on that guide need ignoring. Use this for time being.

The fundamentals are the same. If is not working, you are doing something wrong or there is a hardware issue.

only changes are order of menus is slightly different. we have hidden satellites that are not configured. So you wont see 13e and 156e unless your tuners have those setup.

I have had it working, and it still is, but I'm getting funnies on the recorded programs, missing auto-timers (that aren't), different descriptions of channels and so on. I wanted to delete my current epg and start again, but there are no proper guides. So I'm guessing things.

For instance, last night the epg wouldn't show 2 programs that were on auto-timer, but were in the "queue" (green button). Setting one to record once worked, but the other also recorded. One was called "New: xxxxx" and the other just "xxxxx". So it looks like I'm pulling conflicting data from more than one place?

To elaborate on the other problem, several recent recordings have the wrong descriptions on the box-out on the right. Earlier ones are OK.

A pillock's guide would suit me just fine, and one that reflects recent builds... please!

    Please update guide

It will be updated in due course.

Problems usually arise when people acquire data from more than one source or if there is corruption and Cross does not work.

Just reflashed and ABM seems to be populating the EPG...

EPG data is live data and unless you placed E2 into sleep mode via a telnet session then deleted ALL copies of the EPG.dat it wont do any thing as the data is still live in the flash and can regenerate even after a full reboot.

So it can survive a delete (via Load/Save/Delete) and a USB Flash?

Load/save/delete only deletes the one specified in the EPG settings menu. An image install (by USB or Image Manager) does not touch contents of storage medium.

The following script/plugin was created specifically for people with EPG issues.

It will not survive a image reflash unless you are restoring a settings backup that contains a version or there is a version saved onto the HDD/USB stick etc. But a standard delete yes it can most certainly survive that.

You ideally need to put E2 into sleep mode via a telnet session then delete ALL copies or if you do reflash make sure no copies are stored on the HDD/USB. Personally I have run the same EPG for over 5 years with the exact same timers.xml and autotimers.xml files copied over to the image and it never misses a scheduled recording.

As for any tutorial made by me bearing the authors name as pheonix, I wont be updating them any more, I have neither the time nor the inclination to do so. There are plenty of other sources available for such guidance these days.

It wasn't your guide. It was the one linked in my OP.

    I found something useful elsewhere.
