    CrossEPG Loosing Data Overnight

    Guys,

I have a VU+ Duo with the latest OpenVix build 4.2.023.

I am using a USB stick to download the EPG to, set to 28.2, to download at 4AM daily.

Every evening when I come home most of the non freeview channels do not have any EPG recorded, I can fix this by pressing the blue button and activating the CrossEPG Downloader.

This issue was also in previous build versions on my setup.

Does anyone have any ideas why I am having this issue?

    Thanks
    R

No issues here. Do you have a swap file enabled on your ancient Duo receiver? Also make sure you are saving your EPG data to either an HDD or usb flash drive, most certainly do not store EPG data to internal flash.

Ancient ---- ah'cmon...its a rock solid box (not that I have changed the failed capacitor giving it red led syndrome)
EPG is definately being saved to a 4GB USB stick.

Where would I find if swap file is enabled or not?

hehe. They good receivers don't get me wrong. To see if a swap file is enabled go to Blue button > ViX > Swap Manager. Do you have an Internal HDD installed as well?

    Swap disabled.

Yes I have HDD installed also. I have just pulled the USB key and will setup the EPG to write to that and test incase it is an issue with the USB key.

I assume it's safe to still use Open TV provider (Sky UK Open TV (Astra2 on 28.2)?

Enable a 256mb swap file to your HDD and store EPG data to your HDD also. No need for the usb. Then rerun CrossEPG (Blue button > CrossEPG Downloader)

Done. Will monitor - thanks for your help.

How are the Vu+ Solo 4k's? What's the benefit going to a 4k setup just now, are there any content available - DVB-S or DVB-C?

Beauty of the FBC Satellite tuner is being able to record from 7 different transponders with just one satellite feed, dependant on what Unicable LNB you purchase. Unicable II/JESS LNB being the best.

Interesting, but complex, I do struggle sometimes to find one thing to watch let alone any more than that :-)

Thanks for your help this evening, will report back.

Every evening when I come home most of the non freeview channels do not have any EPG recorded, I can fix this by pressing the blue button and activating the CrossEPG Downloader.
I created a thread earlier today with a very similar issue:
    http://www.world-of-satellite.com/sh...-some-programs
At a glance it appeared the EPG download had failed but on closer inspection, it was just the titles.
This has been happening a lot over the last couple of weeks on non-freeview channels only.

Andy - is it possible there is something more to this given it's been seen by more than 1 user?

rscosworth - can you take a close look at the epg - is the title missing and the description present like my issue?

I will give it a closer look tomorrow if the issue persists. What is your box out of interest?
On the main channel list I only noticed that some were blank so assumed the EPG download had failed in some way, but didn't investigate further than that before pressing the blue button and activating the CrossEPG Downloader.

I have 5 receivers and no issues on any of them. I can understand issues with the Original Duo, Solo and TM Twin OE where they lack memory and umph so enabling a swap file helps.
