    quick question

    Hi sorry newbie question.
I'm looking at installing cross epg as per the stick video in the vix image tutorials. but firstly i have a couple of simple questions?

What is cross epg? is it different to any other epg and how?
Is it recommended to install the epg in a separate location than to my internal hard drive which i plan to use for recording?
If above is yes then I was thinking of using a usb stick in for the epg and picons what size would i need?

    cheers

The proper name is "Cross EPG downloader". It is already included in the openvix image. It is It obtains the EPG data from the signal wire for three providers (Sky 28.2e, Sky 13e and Ausat 156e). It also downloads epg data from the internet for several providers as well as Rytec's XMLTV.

Best not to enable multiple sources for the same provider. I.e use 28.2 from openTV provider only, do not also enable the internet version. Or just use the internet version. However, you may find EPG/XMLTV importer better suited for internet based downloads.

Mechanical HDD is fine for EPG.

USB flash drive/internal flash memory for picons is better than mechanical HDD for picons
