    broken uno

i was running vix 4.1 and decided to update to 4.2.10
    using menu>setup>vix i started to download 4.2.10
after waiting for 15 minutes and just seeing "downloading...." i thought something was wrong as normally an image would download very quickly.
the remote control was non responsive IE: no matter what button i pressed nothing would alter the receivers state.
so i switched it off using the power button on the back.
left it a minute or so then powered back on.
i was met with the usual "starting.." on the receiver display.
a second or so later the display showed "starting" (without the dots)
on my tv a see the "Vu+ your smart tv player" startup screen but that doesn't go away and the openvix splashscreen doesn't appear.
after 4-5 mins the tv screen goes blank for a second while the reciever display shows "starting.." again.
it then switches to "starting" (without the dots) the "Vu+your smart tv player" splashscreen comes on the tv again but gain....no openvix bootup screen.
this continues every 4-5 minutes and never progresses any further.
i have opened up the receiver and unplugged the HDD in an effort to eliminate that as a potential problem but the endless cycle continues.
while having the lid off i looked around the internals and everything seems fine, no sign of any burning or bulging capacitors or anything.
    any ideas guys?

I would try flashing with a usb flash drive. You can always restore your settings/plugins when prompted.

i thought the leap from 4.1 to 4.2 required fresh flash without restoring any settings?
either way, i did try to flash with usb (3 different ones actually, all of which have worked with this receiver before) and i don't get the "Update!" message in the receivers screen as should happen, just the "starting.."
it's as if the receiver gets powered on then sticks before it's able to do anything.

You have any other usb flash drives inserted while trying to flash with another usb flash drive?

Can you reflash it back to an older version and then see if it works? Sounds like something has corrupted on the flashing process of the image, so maybe look to go back and then see if you can build forward from this again.

Try a different usb flash drive. Remember needs to be formatted to fat32. Extract the latest image (ViX 5.0.011) to your usb flash drive and then try flashing your Vu+ Uno again. But again remember no other usb's should be connected, just the one youare using to flash the image with.
