    Last STABLE image...

have been using 3.2 for ages with very little issues...

I don't understand why there are so many updates... should I always be running the latest version?

Upgraded to last image 4.2.010 and had nothing but problems.. cant be precise at the moment as so many issues, box keeps crashing.

e.g.. when stopping a playback of a recording, changing channels, using iptv player... the list goes on...

What is the last stable release that included iptv player as a plugin?...

It's like any device...updates fix bugs and bring improvements but you dont need to be on the latest version if your happy with what you have.
It would help if you could be more precise and include crash logs as it's only feedback that helps towards fixing problems.
Last stable image for me that still had access to the feeds was 4.1 build 001.
    But thats on a Xtrend.
Anything below this version you wont beable to access the feeds.
    So i would start there.
