    Tune failed

Hey, since yesterday i've been receiving this "Tune failed" error message when I try and watch certain channels. I checked my signal and both A and B seem to be fine, they both show the checkbox on the lock and have good signal strength.

I've reset the box, did a USB upgrade of the firmware, however I'm still getting this issue.

I'm currently running a scan for channels and will post a screenshot when it's complete. But I did do one yesterday and the channels i'm having issues with still showed up when it was completed.

I'm a bit baffled as to what could be the problem and hoping someone knows what I can do to resolve it.

Screenshots of what i'm trying to explain.

As always, thanks in advance for any help provided, I appreciate it.

EDIT: Screenshot of completed channel search.

Your issue is not image related. There is a hardware issue. You should be getting over 900 channels on a conventional scan.

    LNB skew incorrect
    slight dish misalignment
    wire damage
    lnb fault
worst case scenario: both tuners failed. I doubt this

Simplest test: connect receiver to another dish

I don't have access to another dish as I live in a flat, we're not allowed to install personal dish's, we have to use the communal dish that they provide.

One new issue i'm seeing is the channels which i'm having issues with are now "n/a" on the tv guide.

    n:a.jpg

I've contacted the repair team and they'll send someone to check the dish, in the meantime if this is a problem with the hardware, what can I do to confirm this?

    I presume:
You have used AutoBouquetsMaker to make your bouquets.
You have then performed a conventional scan, (you also enabled clear before scan) option
This results in the channel being removed from lamedb file. They are still referenced in the bouquet files. Because they cannot be found/no longer exist, the N/A is returned.

Apart from going to someone else's house with your receiver, you cannot test further. Others using the dish will experience the issue too unless it is your faceplate that is faulty.

If you have used AutoBouquetsMaker, may I suggest the following:
    Create an image backup
    List the N/A channels
Change the skin to Vix Night HD, restart
    Run ABM again
Do not access the Graphical EPG.
Access the bouquets instead (pressing TV is quickest way)
You will see the frequency details at the bottom.
Scroll through your list of N/A channels and record the frequencies. This will be the frequencies you cannot tune to.
Reflash your image backup and you will back to square one without having to change skins/rescan etc

Tbh 67% on 11112H on a sky dish is pretty low, it is possible that other transponders are even lower, think you might need an engineer to the dish.

I really hope it's just the connection to the communal dish, I did switch sat cables around on the box and was still able to get the channels that were working to still work. It's just weird that some channels work and some don't. The repair guy will be coming later on in the week, so a long wait .

I just want to find a way to confirm, what might be the issue. Either it's the dish or the box. I'll try and take the box over to a friends home tomorrow to see if it works.

Appreciate the help DaMacFunkin and Abu Baniaz.

You may be on an old image that does not show the frequencies or disabled the option. Comparing with yours,

    Sky 1 SD: 12109 Horizontal 27500 5/6
    Sky Living: 12207 Vertical 27500 5/6
    Comedy Central: 12109 Horizontal 27500 5/6

Do not assume that good signal on some frequencies = good signal on all frequencies.

If you now perform a normal scan (not use ABM) and select clear before scan, you should find the find the same channels come up as N/A. You can compile your list for the engineer. He'll probably just change the LNB and fine tune dish alignment.

So this is a problem with the dish and not the box?

You cannot be certain. It is one or the other.

If issue is on LNB/Cabling/Dish, all receivers will have problems (subject to tuner sensitivities).------- This test can be done by connecting different receiver.

If issue is with receiver, wherever you connect it, it will have problems. ------- This test can be done by taking receiver to another location.

Okay, I guess i'll find out if its a problem with the receiver tomorrow at my friends home. Abu want to say a massive thank you for the help you've provided.

EDIT: I just tried my S** box and the same issue is occurring, I'm able to watch some of the channels, same ones as on the Technomate and unable to watch the same channels that had the error message "Tune failed!".

S** News was the one i was unable to watch on both boxes and it's a FTA channel.

SORRY FOR LATE UPDATE: The channels are working now.

I tested the box at another home, it was able to pick up and show the channels I was having problems with.
Engineer came out last week, fixed one channel (forgot to check others while he was there) however I still had issues with others. Another one came out today, and found out that the communal dish itself had moved slightly, he repositioned it and the channels came back. Performed a scan and was able to pickup 900+ channels as stated by Abu.

Again a massive thank you to abu baniaz for the help.
