Have you tried with cable straight into box and then a loopthrough cable from tuner A to tuner B?

Have you reconfigured your tuner settings when putting cable straight to receiver? So Tuner B would say Loop through to Tuner A?

have you setup A & B exactly the same? make sure that you are not recording two channels at once. if you record (one channel), try pressing up arrow and see which channels you can watch and the ones that are not, which will look darker. when you are recording two channels, there is some channels you can watch and most one cant. if you get this, then re=setup your tuners and scan again

Setup as quoted in post 4 if cable straight into receiver. Take splitter out for time being.
