Virgin NetID & Tuning Frequencies (Nit Analyser)

In Tuner configuration, you can use any Net ID for the UK. However, for ABM to function, the correct NetID is required.

In ABM, we have only listed the headends, not every single town/village/borough. It is an impossible task to list every area especially as some areas will use one NetID and others will use another. Don't worry about the name, the number is what matters.

List of details we have are listed here:
    https://github.com/oe-alliance/AutoB..._uk_virgin.xml

We require a logs from areas not listed in ABM or those that have recently changed. The main changes are that there are no longer any active Qam 64 (modulation 3) frequencies in some areas. These can be acquired by using PeterJ's script.

You must be on an active channel before this next step. Please use an FTA channel that you can view and see a picture

    How to run:

    See post 3

Three files will be created in the tmp directory, nit.bin, nit.log and dvbc.xml. Please zip them and upload them here as attachments once done. You must say which NetID you are in.

For some issue, separate logs will be required using the following telnet commands separately

If you have not got dvbsnoop installed,

    opkg install dvbsnoop

    This command
    dvbsnoop -s sec -tn -timeout 3000 -b -f 0x40 -n 400 0x10 > /tmp/nit.bin

Then this one after the previous ones finishes
    dvbsnoop -s sec -tn -timeout 3000 -b -f 0x46 -n 500 0x11 > /tmp/sdt46.bin

Then this one after the previous ones finishes
    dvbsnoop -s sec -tn -timeout 3000 -b -f 0x42 -n 500 0x11 > /tmp/sdt42.bin

Attached is an ipk to run the script. It will also create an ABM provider for you to use immediately without having to wait for ABM provider updates or manual editing.

You must be on a cable channel for this to work.

So that the main ABM provider file can be updated, please upload dvbc.xml, nit.bin and nit.log
You will find them in the /tmp/directory. They must be zipped so that you can upload them
You must say what NetID you are in.

How to install an ipk file

    Option 1.
Place ipk file on USB stick.
Ensure no menus are showing on receiver. Press Exit if any menus are showing until you are in Live TV
    Insert USB stick
You will get a prompt to install the package

    Option 2.
Transfer the ipk to /tmp directory of receiver. Use an FTP client like Filezilla or if your image has Samba installed, you will be able to use My Computer/File Explorer on windows to transfer it

    On OpenViX
Blue > ViX > Install local extension

    On OpenATV/derivatives
Menu > Setup > Software management > install local extension

    On OpenPLI
Menu > Plugins > Software management > install local extension

    Option 3.
Transfer the ipk to /tmp directory of receiver. Use an FTP client like Filezilla or if your image has Samba installed, you will be able to use My Computer/File Explorer on windows to transfer it

Using Putty/terminal or similar, issue the following command. If your image has the terminal installed in openwebif, you can use that too

    opkg install /tmp/*ipk

Thanks to PeterJ, Huevos, LraiZer and the late PaphosAl

Also attached is dvbsnoop for mipsel receivers for benefit of those who do not have access to a plugin server. Please do not use this if you have an Arm receiver or active feeds. Installing the nitanalyser ipk will install dvbsnoop automatically.

If you have inadvertently doe so, issue this command
    opkg install -force-reinstall dvbsnoop
