Brilliant thread this - very clear instructions.

Been using BH image but thought that I would try the new Vix image. Absolutely love it.

Congratulations to all coders, testers and other involved in compiling the image you have done a great job.

    many thanks.

I dont see how. I created the original tutorial in such a way that even a total novice with no prior experience of enigma2 reveivers could follow. If you need help just ask for it.

I used this guide on maxdigital xp1000 from sponsor, obviously missed out flashing the image part as it came preflashed, used a newer cccam version but seeing as id been told dont get an enigma2 box as its very compicated for first time users, this made it easy so thanks alot

With regards to the section about USB being formatted to fat32, it doesnt't have to be. Ext is fine. This is useful for anyone using a USB drive for timeshift and not wanting to be affected by filesize restrictions of the fat32 system.

    Thanx
yes it's still applicable, the reason i added the bootloader stuff in there was because some users would never have updated their bootloader, so i though it best to add that part in to make the tutorial as complete as possible while still keeping it as easy to follow for new users.

not much no, the basic flashing process would be the only difference, the image setup is pretty much identical on all ViX supported receivers.

I have your guide printed out, my usb stick and I've downloaded the latest New ViX Team VU+ Solo2 OE3.0 Release but I'm unsure about duo_cfe_3_0_usb.zip. Is this the right one to use for the Solo2?

    Cheers,

    Keith
Thats not applicable to the solo2, only the Duo as the name in the file states.

I thought the best course of action would be to re-flash the box and loads the buquets from the beginning.

    Any suggestions?
yes just follow the tutorial and you should be ok, if you need further help just ask.

The last problem, for now, is timeshift.
Timeshift will only work from a Linux formatted device, if you want to use a USB stick for timeshift initialize it from within the image.

I have a solo2 running BH 2.0.2 rev E at the moment and would like to try out the latest vix image which I have already downloaded.
Do I have to flash the bootloader first or can go straight to flashing the vix image .
Do I transfere the solo folder to a usb key or put the file into root of the usb.

    Thanks for any help given.

No need to flash a bootloader, just flash the image.
Get the latest one available from http://openvix.co.uk, extract it to the root of a usb stick, put the usb stick in the box & press the touch sensitive button when prompted to do so.
