    Re: tm600 hard drive problem

i personally think its down to a hardware/software mismatch within enigma itself

enigma assumes the hard drive is an IDE connection, so can control drive speed, spindown etc etc, the TM receivers use USB, which then also utilise USB-IDE (or SATA in most cases) adaptors, with their own on board drivers

enigma tells the spin down commands to locations such as /hdd or /media, but the TM uses /mnt/usb so the commands may be being sent to the wrong places to control the drives

while it is possible to modify your hardware to manually switch off the drive, this means you need to remember to also switch it back on, the usb - IDE (or sata) adaptor is constantly powered by the usb socket, so constantly powers the drive as well

as enigma issues drive commands, and not commands to control power to the drives, this in my opinion, is why drives dont spin down on the TM's

i have emailed information (numerous times) to the UR team detailing hdd and usb information, that will solve a lot of other issues, and possibly this one as well (now i think about it, im 90% sure it would, dependant on the adaptor)

i think its one of those things that will eventually be sorted
