hi there, from time to time if you change channel the hard drive starts to spin and vu+ box freezes for about 10sec at the same time the vix logo spins in top left hand corner, ythe box works normally once this settles. just a bit annoying. thanks:confused:

where have you stored your picons?

Have you picons saved to hdd? If so it sounds like your hdd coming out of sleep to use them on channel change. You can ftp and move them from hdd/picons to usb/picons to avoid this. Or alternatively you could leave your hdd from going to sleep ( you can change this in hdd settings) but will leave your hdd constantly spinning.

ftp in to your box, and go to /media/hdd. If you see a folder called picons in there, they are stored on hdd (as everyone else has said). Move this over to /media/usb (assuming you have a usb stick in the box and mounted to /media/usb)

If u conmect via ftp to ur box then have a look in media/hdd/picon and media/usb/picon and if it is srored on hdd then delete the picon folder and put it on the usb stick instead

HI there, problem fixed but new problem occured. have done as listed in posts, deleted from media/hdd/picon and put into media/usb/picon. checked usb was showing in devices and was ok, checked it showed media/usb. Also followed punishers post on http://linuxsat-support.com/vu-tutorials/4288-how-setup-picons-onto-usb-stick-vix.html to the letter and still would load picons. tryed putting on to usb direct from computer but still not. probally something simple but cant figure it out??

So you cant see picons in info bar nor in epg? Did u put all the image file directly into the picon folder? Also have u tried a reboot?

yes put directly into picon folder both on ftp and usb direct. try rebooting all ways. tryed installing into hdd and they worked ok but thats what original problem was in the beginning with hdd spinning. have tryed a few diffrent sticks.

So they work on hdd but not on usb... Something not right with usbs. Either they not mounted correctly but u said in mount manager the usb shows up as media/usb. Whats the format it shows it in win fat32 or ext3?

Have you checked that the USB stick in mount manager? make sure its mounted to /media/usb and the picons are extracted indirectly into the picon folder and not in a sub folder.

Problem solved, was creating a folder in usb and then when was inserting from a stored folder it was creating a sub folder. thanks for steering me in the right direction as aways.
