RTL Nederland will launch its second digital thematic channel on September 1, RTL Crime, featuring both Dutch and imported drama series and true story programmes. RTL has already signed a distribution contract with Holland’s largest cable operator Ziggo, while negotiations with UPC are in an advanced stage.

The announcement follows the introduction of two ‘true crime’ channels on the Dutch market in July, AETN’s Crime & Investigation network and Investigation Discovery. RTL Germany has already operated a similar RTL Crime channel (see logo) for some years.

Nicolas Eglau, director RTL Ventures, in a statement: “RTL Crime Crime gives every fan an alibi. After the success of RTL Lounge, we expand our digital offering with a quality channel that that fits perfectly with our family of channels. This will not just be a fascinating and entertaining theme channel, but we also want to develop this into a new brand for fans of crime programmes. “

Programming on the 24/7 channel includes series such as 24, Prison Break, Bones and the various CSI series. Dutch productions such as Baantjer, Parels & Zwijnen, Van Speijk, Grijpstra & De Gier and Boks are also part of the offer.
