Hi all, am a complete newbie when it comes to all this (although have spent many years as a Unix sys admin and played with Gentoo and Slackware Linux for years).

On another forum (on which a member kindly pointed me here) I explained I wanted to get rid of my Virgin box and go freesat. At the time, only was thinking of spending a few £ on a freesat box lol.

Ended up with me buying a motor and thanks to their superb help, had it up and running perfectly with my PC's 350 compro card.

This then led me to look at what receiver to get and everyone recommended the VU+Duo.

It arrived Friday and my hard drive arrived Saturday.

Very impressed. Installed the Fully Loaded OpenPLi powered image 24-05-10 and had a play.

I haven't got much clue at all as to what I'm doing. I set up the tuners fine and pointed the dish to 28.2

Did a manual scan and have managed to watch some TV :D

Had a play with some plugins and all in all had a very enjoyable day.

But I cant find a site that explains in newbie terms how to do everything properly. How to set it all up so that I only have the channels I want (not 20 different versions of bbc etc), how softcam/keys work and how to set up, how to make day to day operation wife proof ( a big factor after the ease in which she can use the virgin box), what various plugins do and why someone might need them, how to set up epg's etc etc etc.

For instance, using google to find out what a bouquet is got me a load of info on flowers :)

But I'm competent enough to work it all out over time, I'm sure I'll ask loads of questions on the way

best

Boo
