Hi, i have a VU duo with VIX 1.3 on it (dont ask!). i also have a clone ferrari 800s with NewDE 1.0 on it.

The vu has a 1TB drive in it and i dont have a drive in the 800. i would like to be able to watch recorded content from my vu on my 800, is this possible? i have the VU mapped to a PC and i can watch content from the VU on my PC.

If anyone can provide a step by step in doing this i would be much appreciated.

easy mate one hdd in a nas or in a box

all you do is mount it in network browser and add yes to usee as hdd replacemnt and it will be seen in each box that it is mouned on as media/hdd

i have 1 hdd and my duo et9000 and solo all use the one drive as media/hdd great for sharing recoded stuff on any box

on newde which is what my crappy 800 uses NFS is disabled by default so it wasnt sharing. when i enabled it it worked first time. (red - green stop start services)

You can also manually set up an nfs share through fstabs ... I find this much more reliable than the mount manager (well, a month back at least :p)

So, if you had hdd in vix image box, then you can use in any image by manually setting fstab...

I don't have any problems with the mount manager, apart from the fact that the remount option does not work for me! I find that with bug testing the the machines, I'm restarting the duo a fair bit. In all fairness, if I didn't restart the duo so often, the mount manager would probably work ok.

Anyway, this is what I have added to the /etc/fstab file:

192.168.0.xxx:/media/hdd /media/hdd nfs rsize=32768,wsize=32768,timeo=14,intr 0 0
192.168.0.xxx:/media/hdd2 /media/hdd2 nfs rsize=32768,wsize=32768,timeo=14,intr 0 0

I have 2 partitions on my duo hdd, so to get hdd2 on the solo, need to "mkdir /media/hdd2". Then, when I boot up, the box mounts them correctly for me. As for the remounting, I have create a little script in /usr/scripts (and chmod'd to 755):

#!/bin/sh

umount -a
sleep 5
mount -a

I then have a cron job set to run this every day at 5am to ensure it's mounted for me. If I shutdown the duo after 5am, and want to use the hdd before 5am the following morning, I can manually run the script using the script runner in the vix menu.

press ok

the setup the mounts most is self explaining

say yes to relace as hdd

and press ok

it will mount

do this to all boxes u want using that hdd

for future go to etc/enigma2 and backup automount.xml thats yr mounts so if u flash u can just add it back and not do that procedure again

yes you can mate thats what i do i have a 100gb hdd on my et-9000 via esata

and enabled cossepg on it then i do mount as above but not enable replace as hdd and lable it USB

then i just go into setting crossepg and direct cross epg location to media/net/USB and yr done

even so if u download epg on one box the other will update and this can be done from any 1 box even a remote box

Can anyone give some advice please? have Gigablue HD Quad with HDD it was setup with Open ATV (by seller with wooshbuild I think) my Samsung Smart TV could find the Hard Drive and I was able to view videos from folders on the box without turning on Gigablue hence it was available to my other Smart TV. But needed to reflash Gigablue with later version of Open ATV but cannot setup Hard Disk Mount so it is found as before.
Have read through this thread and thought I had found problem as I didn't have box set as a HDD okay'd that but still cannot find it? any help appreciated thanks.
