would it be possible for moderators who have a stable oscam build for vix 2.1 to add this build to the cam repository that is maintained off this site. the three builds thatare currently in that repository all have issues and simply are not stable. it would be great if someone would make an ipk available that does work with 2.1

Download the latest svn, and use the tuxbox mipsel. Then, upload this to /usr/softcams/ and chmod to 755. Rename to oscam (or something similar), and you will find it in your softcam manager. Works perfectly. This way, you can have the latest version always available ;)

This is the version I've used. Think it was from 2nd May. Seems to work ok for me, but have only had a little play with it...

Just extract this, upload to /usr/softcams/ and chmod to 755...

can oscam be used on its own or do you need cccam 2.1.3/2.1. & oscam for it to work.

It can be used on it's own if you set up the dvbapi iirc. But, I've never bothered with that, always set it up to work alongside cccam...

do you have to convert your c-line 2 n-line to use oscam on its own.

There is no such thing as c-lines & n-lines in oscam. To use it on its own you need a [dvbapi] section.

and a [dvbapi] is ?

DVBAPI is the bit that reads your card. The C line you add as reader, need to do the same for your card. I think we have already drifted to far towards CS talk. Google is your friend.

went into the ump file centre and downloaded svn 5068 which works fine for me. within the svn there are many files so just followed the instructions pooface gave and works fine. can someone tell me if this same file will work on a dm500 (and in what directory it goes) or do you need to use one of the other files in the svn for enigma1 based boxes

no the same version will not work on the DM500, the Vu uses the MIPS version where the DM500 etc uses the PPC version see below.

Oscam versions

linux pc = x86_64 version
Dm500,600,7020 = powerpc version
Dm800,7025,8000 = mips version

could you advise which directory the ppc version goes in for a dm500. i figure it must be /var/bin but just double-checking

i dont use oscam but as far as i am aware just rename the binary to oscam and place it into var/bin chmod to 755 and the config files go into /var/tuxbox/config

Path for configs in ViX image is /etc/tuxbox/configs/ cant remember off hand where the softcams are stored.

Subject had divulged into another topic (dm500).

Since this is in the vu duo forum, can you (fintannl) create another post in the dm500 forum if still need help? :) Saves confusion
