Sky says it gained 51,000 new subscribers in the first three months of 2011 pushing its total to 10.1 million.
Sky's nine-monthly results show it signed up 189,000 Sky HD subscribers between the start of January and the end of March 2011, giving it 3.7 million overall. 26 per cent of subscribers now take its phone, TV and broadband package and the average revenue per user has increasing 8 per cent year-on-year to £544.
Sky chief executive Jeremy Darroch said: "Customers are choosing Sky for a better choice of television and 2011 is shaping up to be our best year yet on screen
'Our new channel, Sky Atlantic, has got off to an excellent start with 10 million viewers in the first two months. Alongside Sky 1 and Sky Living, it forms part of an outstanding entertainment line-up that will bring even more value to customers in the months ahead, including a growing commitment to UK drama and comedy.'
