Does anyone know where the Initialization option for the hdd is on version 2.1?

Also, when I was on 2.0, pressing the record button I would get no hdd message. Even though I've been recording to it for a few days.

Any idea why?

Thanks.

have you gone to "setup" then "system", you should see Hard Drive, select it, and select " initialize"

Yes mate, no "Hard Drive" option. Does the option only appear if the box "sees" the hdd?

yes mate

so if its not there,...then either the drive is,nt connected correctly, or the drive needs formatting to fat 32 via a comp, ( I do not have the latest image installed here so might be best to wait for other comments )

OK. The drive was wiped with WipeDrive and so has no partiton table. Being Linux I thought it could take care of the formatting? May be not I'll telnet in and format it that way. Thanks for the late night support.

edit /etc/fstab and add the following line at the bottom of the file
/dev/sda1 /media/hdd auto defaults 0 0
Reboot the box your HDD should then be seen :)

OK. The drive is not FAT32, but a linux format type 83 - probably ext3.

I will edit the fstab also.

Very strange behavior.

I found vix would not format a 2 gig drive
so installed 5.6.
formatted with no problems
then reinstalled vix 2.0
