UPC Ireland has ceased transmission of ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 after the expiry of its existing agreement with the UK commercial broadcaster at midnight on Thursday March 31.

ITV was unable to renew the agreement with UPC because significant amounts of content on the channels have been committed to another broadcaster. It is anticipated that the content will appear on Ireland’s TV3 and sister channel 3e.

The position throws up the curiosity of the channels not being available on UPC in Ireland, while continuing to have carriage on UPC Cablecom in Switzerland, the result of local copyright laws.

UPC Ireland continues to carry UTV, the Belfast-based equivalent to ITV1.
