An American satellite TV dealer is offering a free gun with every sign-up to the Dish TV network.

The Radio Shack store in Montana is promoting the deal with a sign reading: 'Protect yourself with Dish Network Sign up now Get free gun.'

New subscribers can choose between a .38 handgun, 20-guage shotgun - or $50 of free pizza if they fail the free background check or just don't like guns.

Shop owner Steve Strand told CNN it took months for Dish Network to agree to the promotion, which had never been tried before, although 4x4 retailers have also offered guns - even an AK47 in one case.

'We have people literally stop in to take pictures of the sign,' said manager Fabian Levy.

Dish Network - owned by Echostar - is locked in stiff competition with both News Corporation's DirecTV and local cable networks for pay-TV subscribers in the US.

Previous Dish marketing stunts have involved renaming an entire town Dish and handing out free subscriptions to all the residents.

where to start ?.

shotguns ( bear in mind i have 19 of the little buggers )
off the top of my head.

lanber over and under 12 gauge sporting delux 30" barrels
lanber over and under 12 gauge gold delux 30" barrels
argyll 12 gauge single shot slide mechanism 28" modified barrel
barretta 687 sliver pigeon over and under 12 gauge 30" barrels
winchester cooey 84 12 gauge 30" single barrel ( hammer mechanism )
winchester 1400 mk2 12 gauge semi auto ( 3 shot on a section 8 license ) 32" barrel
winchester SX3 12 gauge semi auto composite ( 3 shot on a section 8 license ) not sure of barrel length.
hushpower 410 single barrel silenced folding shotgun ( not sure of barrel length ).

rifles

CZ Varmint Bolt Action .17 hmr with silencer
Remington 700 .234 caliber with silencer

as for the rest of them i'd have to look over my firearms licenses as they tend only to get taken out for special occasion. the ones above are the ones i use on a regular basis.

This might be classed as an American dish realignment tool! I bet their customer service must be good as they know their customers are armed. Imagine if sly Uk done this!!

nice collection. not so much a fan of the .22's my self. i have found i can hit and kill just as well with the humble .17.
i took a fox a few weeks back at over 250 yards with a .17 rim fire. 1 shot and down. as for the Remington 700 thats my new toy. i took a Chinese water deer last month at over 700 yards with that.

hopefully later this year i'm off to canada for a few weeks to do some hunting.

Nice shot that the best I have done is one vaporised crow at 600M with a .270
