Should not be an epg problem because once epg has been read its kept in memory untill reboot of the box.
was jus wonderin thas all, but i think ... i think ... i think it could be picons on hdd lol spurnin up the hdd everytime a channel is changed, hdd chills out and then channel changed fires the hdd back up
i have everything stored to my internal hdd picons epg etc - is this the problem
have you tried sticking picons on usb as like i said everytime you change channel your hdd has to fire up to pull the picon for that channel, so it could be that. i had that problem originally until i put picons and epg (although epg wont cause the problem) on usb
cheers for that ill give it a go - sorry to sound thick but once i put in usb - how would i change picons and epg to usb instead of internal hdd ?

you need to mount the usb in device manager to media/usb. then you need to ftp and copy the picons to media/usb/picon. then delete them from media/hdd/picon. which epg you using CrossEPG or RyVIX?
Ryvix - how do i mount it (soory for being thick )
squig
Ryvix is an epg source, it doesntget mounted? What is it you tryna do? You setup ryvix to get your epg data for whicheva sat you want
im trying to change where the picons etc ar stored - at th eminute they are on the internal hdd - which is slowing teh channel zapping down - so what steps do i need to do to get them onto a usb to spped the channel zapping up ?
if you have a usb mounted then ftp the picons to media/usb/picon and then delete them from media/hdd/picon
cheers but how do i mount a usb ? again sorry for sounding thick
Go to menu/setup/vix/device manager go to usb and press green (mount points) go onto usb and scroll right on ur remote until the mount changes to /media/usb and just save and thats it
i went into mount points and changed it to /media/usb and saved it and rebooted but when i check again after rebooting it shows as media/sdb1 and not media/usb - and tryed it over and over again and cant mount the usb any ideas ?
try reformatting the usb stick either via the Device Manager or on ur pc (fat32) ... below is what it should look like
