Please can someone help solve this?

I've installed two different hdd's and both give the same error.

This is what I've done;

1. Installed original image and setup / initialized the hdd.

2. Installed VIX 2.0 from USB and then done online to upgrade to the latest version.

3. Clicked on record and get the following error;

missing /hdd/movie/
No hdd found or hdd not initialized!

So I used telnet and created the directory

now get the error

Write error while recording! Disk full?

The disks i've used are 160GB and 1TB, both were previously NTFS formatted.

any idea where I'm going wrong?

Thanks.

when you press menu then setup then system do you see harddisk in the list of options (should be under auto language selection and before network option)

Format the drive as FAT32 then initialize

sorry guys had to go out.

The drive does appear in the menu as you said.

Does the Vu use a FAT32 file system? Does the initialization not format the disk?

OK I'll have ago at formating the disk.

Can anyone telnet in and tell me the file system used by the Vu?

just do;

fdisk /dev/sda <enter>

p <enter>

This will list the file systems in use. Please screen shot or copy and past.

q <enter>

should return you to the # prompt.

Thanks.

duo uses fat32 or ext3, either of which you can format via the device manager or harddisk in system settings

One way is..

Menu>>setup>>vix>>Devices manager>>>Choose your drive>>>blue button to format.

Now the disk is not showing in device manager. And the box just goes green screen when ever I try some thing.

unplug the device, reboot the box, then shut it down, plug the hdd back in and then go back into device manager and see if its there again

Ok. Just to confirm that this is an internal hdd.

with the hdd connected internally, are you able to get into System/Setup/Hard Disk?

OK, had to re-flash VIX 2.0 to get the box working.

Did not upgrade to the latest version.

Followed the instructions and it appears to be working.

Need to test for longer to see how the box behaves.

Thanks for your help.
