Hello,
Sorry if my question sounds stupid but I have just move from a DM7020 to a ET9000.
My understanding was that the bootloader was needed to have multiple images on the ET9000. Is that right ?

So far I have done the following:
1st: install bootloader
2nd: install VIX 2.1 image
3rd: install Open PLI 2.0 image

However, when the ET9000 boots, I have no choice for the image but the last one.
Can someone please give me a hint?

Thanks.

You want multiboot not bootloader for multi images.
The bootloader is required to make the box boot, full stop.

Thanks Donnie,

So is there a multiboot option/plugin for the ET9000?

What is the purpose of the bootloader if the ET9000 boots normally ?

If your reffering to the bootloader update here http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?6380-Bootloader-update-20110212 Its as fix to allow larger images to be flashed.

Hello'

I think he is asking for multiboot option as possibility to select between different images at the boot as is possible on DB receivers.

For example:
- Original image in flash
- Second image to boot from usb....

I don't have ET9000 yet so I cannot answer.

Not possible at the moment as the et-9000 doesnt use NFI images

Just to confirm: I understood that is not necessary to flash the bootloader patch if you use a recent image. It should be already included on vix, pli, sif images. Is it correct?
Thanks

No, the boot loader is a separate flash.

to be fair i would always advise against messing with boot-loaders unless you have a valid reason to do so. this is one of the only areas you can totally kill a box if you stuff it up.

Thanks for the advice. I read another post of box bricked due to failder bootloader flashing. I will only do if requested specifically on some image. For example VIX is working fine without this update.
