i recieved my vu+ duo today and flashed with black hole and im quite impressed.i owned a dm7020-s for about 3 yrs so im ok setting up but i never used the usals , i could never seem to get it right so i always manually searched for the main sats ( so with nothing on i never bothered with).

im struggling abit to set up the usals ,ive entered the correct long and lat but im abit lost after that.
can anyone point me to in the right direction ? also , how to manually find say 28.2e 19e 16e 0.8w ,just the popular ones.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thankyou , and sorry for the long first thread.

This is the settings from the tuner I use with my TM2600, your is a Diseqc motor too, so should work the same.

Once set to that just upload a set of Enigma 2 settings/bouquets to it from our download section. The Vu+Support.co.uk or the Catseyes settings are best. Open them up in dreamboxedit and upload the ones you prefer :)

i previously got that far and cccam 2.14 but say i select BBC1 28.2E i get the swirling sat dish but it doesnt find it ..never locks on ...
with the old dm7020 i could find a known woerking transponder then move the dish east/west till i got a lock then scan.reason i could never get to grips with the usals.
is there a similar way to manually search for individual sats ( ball acke i know) ? as it might just be the motor .

can i just make sure im typing in the correct longitude/latitude, take an example, say this is were i live :-
Latitude = 53.4807, Longitude = -2.2344
Lat = 53 degrees, 28.8 minutes North
Long = 2 degrees, 14.1 minutes West
would i be correct in saying my long/lat i would add to my vu+ duo would be

latitude = 053.480 north
longitude = 002.141 west
?.
it just confuses me as to when i search i dont just juse the top line of
Latitude = 53.4807, Longitude = -2.2344 instead of the longitude been 002.141.
i just want to be sure i got this bit wrong and save alot of hassle.
sorry for the daft sounding questions but i havnt used usals before.

I did mine manually and turned usals of, STAGE 1.

GOTO Main Menu \ Setup \ Service Searching \ Tuning
Press "OK" on "TUNER A"
Use L/R keys to change Configuration Mode to "advanced"
Move down to "SATELLITE"
Use L/R keys to select the satellite you want to add
Underneath that set "Use USALS" for this satellite to "no" using L/R keys
Go down to "Stored position"
Set the position you want to this satellite to appear at using L/R keys ie 001, 002 etc
Go down to "LNB"
Use L/R keys to select "LNB 1"
Next ensure "Diseqc Mode" is " 1.2"
"Toneburst" is "B"
(I left the others at the default setting's)
Go further down and input your Latitude and Longtitude using the numeric keys
(I inputted my Lat & Long information but I don't think it will make any difference unless you use USALS !)
Scroll further down to "LOF" and set it to "Universal LNB" using the L/R keys
Then Press "OK" to save the info you have inputted.

You will need to perform this for each Satellite position you intend to set up.

STAGE 2.

GOTO back to Main Menu \ Setup \ Service Searching \ Positioner setup
Go down to "Positioner storage"
Use L/R keys to set the postion number that is to be setup
Go up to "Tune"
Press the "Red Button"
Using L/R keys select "Predefined or Manual transponder" as required
(I suspect the Predefined settings uses the satellites.xml file and manual you get to choose what you want to scan)
Go down to "Satellite" and use the L/R keys to select the Satellite to place at the above Storage postion
Press "OK"
Go down to "Positioner movement"
Use the coloured buttons to search or move the dish left or right until "Locked" is acheived
Go back to "Positioner storage"
Press the GREEN button to store that location

You will need to perform this for each position you intend to set up in line with what you did in stage 1.

This is the way that I did it and it works fine, it looks daunting but after having done it a couple of times it becomes easy.

i think we need an " EDIT " button on the forum save keep adding extra posts.the picture quality is a little bit clouded on SD and im using HD feed to the TV.Its not as good as my 7020 and i thought it would have been.
is there anything in the settings to try and improve it ?. i have tried nudging it east/west but 70%-72% seems to be the max , would this be the norm ?.

What image are you using? Is the video enhancement plugin in installed under system settings?

Regards SNR you should get higher depending on which satellite and location. Also check your alignment.

thanks for that , im using PLI , i have got the video enhancement plugin but i never know quite which to move and tweek were to get a clearer / sharper picture.it just seems strange that on say 28e i got 85%-89% on my old dm7020 but on the vu+ duo im lucky to get above 65% and i've stepped it back n forth upteen times in the postioner but no joy.
seems the same on the few sats ive got like hotbird , i just thought there might be a setting to tweek or boost the tuner or summut .
thanks so far ,,its not as painful setting up as i thought it would be :)

Regards the video settings, tweak the video enhancement settings to suit, also look in A/V settings > scaler setting.

Regards the SNR there prob a difference in the 7020 settings and the Duo settings, could be the Duo is moving the motor slightly.

Just looked over this thread again, have you set your longitude and latitude settings correctly? Have you checked this against whats set in your 7020?

i seem to have lost all channels on me share since i installed it and i rebooted.if it doesnt how do you manually restart the Cccam anyway ? i cant see it for looking!!.

Press Menu > Setup > Softcam > Then select restart softcam.

It does restart after reboot. Also check your network settings.

Wow, if I could buy you a pint I would buy you several!
I received my box on Friday, opened it Sat afternoon and got on fine until I tried to get it to drive my dish.
Long-standing user of DM7000-S with a 'EDON 2150' positioner and never had any problems once set up.
With the VU+ I traipsed through the menus trying everything including a reflash with the recommended 'VuPlus-Support.co.uk Fully Loaded OpenPLi powered image 24-05-10 - Great for newbies '.
Gave up around 3am and went to bed feeling really pissed off.
Today I looked through this excellent forum and found your response to a 'motor setup' query, followed it and whooped (frightening the cat) when it actually worked !
Many thanks, you saved my from severe depression :D
