Tempermental HDD

Got a 200GB seagate that was erratically being detected by the OS. Some times it came and went from devices and HDD by itself.
More than likely its knackered but is there anyway of factory resetting it?
Might stick it in a forthcoming new box.

once a hdd life is getting to the end there is little that can be done to revive it

have a look at hirens boot cd in the windows apps section
