My VU+ Ultimo 4K box that I've had for 4 years will no longer power on. Would a VU+ Duo4K SE power supply work with it as that box is still working? Tried that power supply with the Ultimo but it still won't power on.

Are there any places that repair VU+ boxes?

Do you have the white light (small circle to the left of the lcd display) illuminated ?

power is both 12 V so you could try.Could also be the on off switch because is a crappy one .Also capacitors are probems on VU+.Check them if possible

It magically seems to be working now. Nothing was lighting up on the LCD front panel last night. Tried unplugging the power cable from the plug socket and the receiver and reconnected it and nothing was lighting up after a few minutes. Left it plugged in overnight and when I woke up it's now powered up! Isn't that weird? Surely the power connection is there or it isn't, how would it only establish a power connection over time?

Anyway, today, I tried unplugging the power cord from the receiver and plugging it back in and the LCD immediately starts flashing the circle. So it seems to be working now.

Would still be good to know for the future if there are any places that repair VU+ boxes?

It's most likely the power switch that is starting to fail, which is why I asked if the white light was on, next to the lcd, because this indicates that the box is getting power, even when the switch goes faulty.

Mine broke about 4/5 years ago now, I only had the white led, nothing on the display, box wouldn't boot.

I started to mess with the power switch by pressing it very firmly off and then on again a few times and the box sprang back into life.

So I took it to bits thinking that I could replace the power switch but my soldering iron just didn't get hot enough to touch the solder they use in the factory (i've got a solder station now but not bothered to mess with it since).

In the end I put it back together and it wouldn't work again, so did the same with the power switch as before and it came alive again.

I've not touched the power switch since, I now just pull the power cable out the back if I need to power it off.

It seems to be a common thing as my Duo4K SE has started to have the same problem, so now I just pull the power out of that too.

Good to know thanks. I won't touch the power switch again. Seems very strange for the power switch to go faulty even though it's rarely ever pressed?! It must be constructed of very weak materials.

If the power switch on the back of the box is turned off but the power cable is plugged in then I assume nothing is supposed to be light up on the LCD panel?

Yes if power in, but switch is off, then everything is dark.

If power in, switch is on, but only white light shows, you know the power is getting to the box but the switch isn't making the connection fully.

Thanks. I tried switching the switch on again and it didn't power on but while the switch was pressed in on the "on" position I just pressed the on part of the switch again and it doesn't even feel like it moved further in yet it powered on. Seems like a strange defect for a switch to not go all the way in. But just in case that doesn't work in the future I'll try your method of just pulling out the power cord.
