I have a VU+ Duo 4K SE running openvix.
It has twin FBC tuner module and a twin DVBT tuner

I have this LNB

IDLU-QUDL42-UNR2L-1PP

It has one Unicable output and two "legacy" outputs
It comes with a splitter.
I have one legacy output wired to the kitchen TV
The Unicable output is directly connected to the VU+ in the main sitting room.

The LNB has four user bands

0=1210mhz
1=1420mhz
2=1680mhz
3=2040mhz

Note, I'm new to unicable and FBC and am not sure what I'm doing.

After many many tries at setup , am I right in concluding that it is impossible to use all 8 FBC tuners on the VU+ because it only has four user bands.
Also , if I set up all four user bands on the VU+ , the legacy output stops working , it would seem I need to leave one user band free for a legacy output to work.
Is That correct?

If not , what is the best way to set up the tuners on the VU+ box.

I can replace the LNB with this one

IDLU-32UL42-UNB00-0PP

It has 32 user bands

What would be the best way to set up this in the openvix tuner menu.
I am assuming I can use the splitter I have to feed the kitchen TV from one of the many unused user bands left over?

To use all 8 FBC tuners, you need a Unicable II lnb, with atleast 8 (most have 24 - 32) userbands.

You can also get a unicable II lnb with 24 userbands and 3 legacy (DUR-Line UK 124-3L for example).

They should work independently. This may be a fault with the LNB.

Only if it supports unicable. Otherwise you must use the legacy output.

Another option is to to use a switch. Unitron dCSS-422 uses quattro LNBs,

Have a look in the unicable section of forum for other examples

Yeah , thought that LNB was a bad buy , It does mention 4 feeds maximum , legacy or unicable or both , so the legacy connections do indeed cut out if you use all four user bands on the VU+

The kitchen TV works fine with a split off the Unicable , so must be compatible.
I will have the installer change it , hes already booked to fix the install as he told me that the legacy was separate and it is not.

I will switch out for the 32 band unicable II LNB listed in the first post. Should be fine then.
Thanks for the help.

I switched out the LNB for this one

IDLU-32UL42-UNB00-0PP

I set up the LNB in the Openvix Tuner Page , Cable to Connector A ( Top one ) all other tuners set to Unicable LNB , LNB model number , and user bands 2 through 9 used for each tuner , 3 through 9 connected to A as recommended in the Unicable & FBC Sticky on here.

Strange problem , it didnt work , so used the command "cat /etc/enigma2/settings | grep config.Nims > /tmp/mytunerconfig.txt" to get the tunerconfig file , and it showed my old setup , not the new one.
I deleted the Settings file in Enigma2 and rebooted , ran the command again , and I still got the old setup , not the new one.

So I went into Tuner Settings again , this time I changed from Unicable/Jess LNB to Unicable/Jess User defined and entered the frequency for each user band in turn for each tuner.

Ran the tunerconfig command again , and this time it was correct. Everything works fine , tested 7 recordings whilst watching another channel , no issues , all recordings completed as they should , smooth operation.

Looks like Ive found a bug or something.
The Box was supplied from WOS with Openvix Virtuosso Image Xtreme 6.2.010 and its a VU+ Duo 4K SE

Anyways , its all working now , just thought that this was a very strange issue. Surely config should be updated every time you change tuners and save it ? Why did it insist on holding on to the old config when LNB & Model # was used and only updated when I set it to " User Defined " ?

Kitchen TV also working by the way , with the splitter supplied by inverto for the first LNB.

The 6.2 image is several years old. Current image is 6.5.

The box is less than a year old.
Why would WOS sell a box without the latest image on it ?

That image must be what it was shipped from the manufacrurer with.
WoS will flash the latest image for a quid when you place an order.

An aside, it will take roughly 5 minutes to flash newer image, reboot, restore settings/plugins and reboot back to working state.

Box was bought from WOS last May , and I asked for Openvix on it , chosen from a list in a drop down box when ordering. Im assuming 6.2 was not current last may , would have been some version of 6.4

Anyway , doesnt matter , turns out the box will download and flash the latest image and pull all your settings back into the new image in 5 minutes.

None of my cheaper previously owned boxes could do that without completely freezing up.
Happy days , on 6.5.001 now.
