View Full Version : Common interface CAMs not working when USB DVB-T stick is used ?

I have bought a Happauge WinTV USB DVB-T stick. It works without any problems on DVB-T free to air channels but not with a common interface CAM for the encrypted channels. The same common interface CAM works without any problem in a 3 year old TV with DVB-T tuner. The same cam also works with Conax encrypted services on satellitte (used in VU+).

I am thinking there is a major issue with the hardware not being able to send the signal from USB DVB-T stick trough the common interface CAM(s). Other issues might be that the CAM does not receive a compliant transportstream (whole complete mux is probably required).

As the DVB-T network I tested is using Conax pairing only the special Conax common interface pairing CAMs is able to descramble the services.

Edit: I acually found some worrying info here which indicates that USB tuners only work with FTA channels.
