View Full Version : Fan
Hello All. Been playing with the TM800 HD for a few days now, everything working fine.Good solid box at the right price, compares favourable with my vu+ duo and many more. Just one question is it normal for the fan to be continuous on, even in stand by.
PS very good and quick service from the World of Satellite
Yes its normal for the fan to stay on.
i fitted a thermal switch to mine, and screwed this to the processor heatsink, so the fan only comes on when the processor gets hot ;)

Hi lads,
Anyone know of a way to get the fan to turn off when in standby? Plugging it out will be the next option after it humming all night...
Cheers,
mcquaim
it wont turn off as its wired directly to a constant 12v supply on the power supply m8
Cheers man,
That seems a bit overkill for them to have it always running.. If I were to disconnect it would the unit overheat? I have it in the bedroom and it was a total disaster last night as it hummed all night!!
Cheers,
mcquaim
it may get a little sluggish as it gets hot, but i dont think itll die from not being connected m8
You could always put it to deep standby.
Good thinking! Can the standby button be configured to go into deep standby by a single press? Maybe through multiquickedit perhaps??

Long hold down should bring up the power menu.
Ah yeah, know about the power menu! To prevent having to long hold standby, then scroll down and select standby is a bit of a long process! I thought maybe mapping deep standby to a single press of the standby button would be a good solution if possible??
